This name may not mean much to people not steeped in comics but Dick Giordano was a big part of the Silver Age of comics for DC.
Dick Giordano was one of the first names I ever learned to recognize off the bat in reading comic credits. RIP, Dick. Quote:

That must have been such an amazing place and time to be working, to be one of the army of young comics creators in Manhattan in the '60s and '70s. They were such a crazy, creative bunch of guys, but culturally pretty "normal" (at least on the outside) for the times. They created a cultural product that touched a several generations of adolescent (and beyond males) across North America. Giordano was one of the stalwarts, just cranking away. May he rest in peace.

I just read his guest issue of Jonah Hex 3 weeks ago. I had no inkling of him being sick.

I met the gentleman (as well as George Perez) in the very early 1980s at a Comic Convention in Connecticut, USA ... just after Perez had his success with the 2nd incarnation of The Teen Titans [the first being the 1960s era Titans)
Anyways, I chatted with Mr. Giordano, briefly and asked him to sign a few books ... I am pretty sure some were Titans issues (which Perez also signed). Mr. Giordano will be missed |
