I think that many role-players get confused between "Fair" and "Balanced". "Fair" is a function of "Trust", Either in the GM, or the whims of Fate as represented by the Dice. A Mechanically "Balanced" system is a substitute for "Trust" and "Fair Play" to insure that Immature players or GM's don't abuse to gain an "Unfair" advantage over the others. I feel really sorry for any role playing group that feels they NEED a game to be "balanced".
